Sustainability
Sustainability is core to Haizhou Pharm’s strategy and mission. We are deeply committed to the principles of the ESG framework, which guide both our production practices and site management. ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) is a globally recognized standard for assessing a company’s responsibility and sustainability in its operations. It’s especially critical in pharma and chemicals, where regulatory scrutiny, supply chain complexity and public health impact are high. The initiative covers the following areas:
Pillar |
Focus Areas |
Environmental |
Emissions, energy use, waste, water, biodiversity, resource efficiency |
Social |
Worker safety, diversity, community impact, human rights, product safety |
Governance |
Ethics, transparency, board structure, anti-corruption, regulatory compliance |
Environment
GHG Control
We compile comprehensive emissions data, including direct releases from all company-owned or controlled sources (such as boilers, furnaces, vehicles, and on-site chemical production processes) as well as indirect greenhouse gas emissions resulting from purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling. These estimates are calculated using both market-based and location-based methodologies.
Energy KPI
Our formal Energy Management Manual includes annual total energy consumption as a key performance indicator.
Air-Quality Monitoring
Stack-emission tests are performed at set intervals to measure pollutant concentrations, ensuring compliance with permitted limits.
Enclosed conveying systems, local exhaust ventilation and bag filters are installed to prevent fugitive dust and particulate emissions.
Noise surveys are carried out at facility boundaries; results are documented and reviewed for compliance.
All sites follow the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry to minimise waste; hazardous-waste reduction is the top priority.
Engineering controls—thermal oxidisers, scrubbers, catalytic reduction units—are in place and verified by third-party testing.

Compliance & Integrity
Complied Production
Sustainability is core to Haizhou Pharm’s strategy and mission. We focus on green production, quality and safety, using optimised production processes and infrastructure to avoid environmental impact.
We are focused on reducing the generation of pollutants at the source by optimising production processes, improving raw material selection and enhancing operational efficiency. This is achieved through regular audits, process optimization and the adoption of cleaner production technologies.
Ensuring that all waste streams are treated effectively before discharge. This includes the installation and proper operation of advanced wastewater treatment plants, air filtration systems and solid waste management facilities to meet regulatory standards.
A formal recall procedure enables rapid retrieval of recently sold products should any health or safety defect be identified.
Integrity Guidance
Guided by the same ethos shared by China’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, Haizhou Pharm treats sustainable value creation not merely as a moral obligation, but as a strategic imperative.
Global accolade
Haizhou Pharm was awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal in December 2024, a distinction that places the company among the top 15% of more than 130,000 enterprises assessed worldwide.
Domestic triumph
Haizhou Pharm is complemented by the “Green Environmental Integrity” rating in Zhejiang Province’s Corporate Environmental Credit Evaluation System. This further demonstrates our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible manufacturing, including safety assessment and environmental impact evaluation.
Why ESG Matters, Especially in Pharma
The guiding principles of ESG are especially critical in pharma and chemicals, where regulatory scrutiny, supply chain complexity and public health impact are high.
ESG helps identify and manage risks like supply chain disruptions, regulatory non-compliance, or reputational damage.
ESG-aligned companies attract more capital, especially from funds with sustainability mandates.
ESG overlaps with REACH, EFSA, and GMP standards—making it a strategic lever, not just a reporting tool.
EU buyers increasingly require ESG disclosures for supplier qualification and dossier acceptance.
ESG drives adoption of green chemistry, circular sourcing (e.g. iodine recovery), and dual-site validation.
